Our first ever comedy show started in a mezzanine above a bar/cafe in Hyndland, Glasgow. We sold out the first show (half of the audience was family and friends) but getting over 50 bums in seats for our first show was the push we needed to add more dates and see what we could grow from there. We borrowed another comedian’s PA system and spotlight, taped up to a shelf at the back of the room and didn’t even have a backdrop yet but it worked!

We ran the shows fortnightly and added a ‘Laughterhours’ open mic for new comics to come and try out material in front of an audience. A lot of regular faces kept coming back and we had a lot of sell out shows in that venue, the free tequila from our Cazcabel sponsor probably helped a lot with that to be honest! But, we were thrilled it was doing so well and we had some of the best Scottish headliners on our tiny makeshift stage including:

Christopher MacArthur-Boyd, Mark Nelson, Marc Jennings, Susie McCabe, Jay Lafferty, Scott Agnew, Des McLean, Connor Burns, Ross Leslie, Raymond Mearns, Stephen Buchanan, Gary Little, Jojo Sutherland, Viv Gee, Paul McDaniel, Chris Forbes, Ray Bradshaw, Gary Little, John Gavin, Darren Connell and Billy Kirkwood.

Here’s some of pics of the early shows - my photography has improved a lot since then (I hope!)
